STORY INCUBATOR

For new stories to emerge we also need to challenge and transform the current development and production ecosystem, including the financial structures and investments schedules that force outdated processes to stay in place.

The Story Incubator is a narrative design laboratory and process developed by Juan Diaz Bohorquez, reimagining media development and production. It is an intensive, platform-agnostic process designed for the inception, development, and financing of media story-worlds for film, TV, and XR. It also serves to inspire new solutions for ongoing projects and envision future reality strategies for businesses and social impact initiatives.

The Story Incubator is both a narrative development process and a sustainable, renewable business structure. To address the common challenge of inadequate funding during development, commercial partners invest in the incubator itself rather than in individual stories. As the process unfolds, these partners gain a privileged position to enter as producers and collaborators on the most promising projects that emerge.

Traditional linear production models often suffer from an imbalance in budget allocation, with excessive expenditure in production and insufficient investment in development. By reallocating a portion of the production budget to a well-funded inception and development phase, the Story Incubator enables more compelling stories to emerge while optimizing production resources.

Leveraging virtual production, pre-visualization technology, and rapid prototyping principles, the project evolves through a continuous volumetric process until it reaches its audience.
